Ironwood Grounds is a small, owner-run operation on the Peninsula — not a rotating crew of subcontractors. You deal with the person who quotes your job, builds it, and stands behind it.
We take a limited number of projects at a time so every cedar run gets the attention it deserves. Real materials, fixed written quotes, and work we are glad to put our name on.
No hourly rate, no surprises. You know the full price before a single board goes in.
We walk your property, measure the run, and talk through height, grade, and lot lines — usually within one business day of your request.
One clear written price for the whole job. No hourly rate, no line-item surprises, no pressure to decide on the spot.
Western red cedar, board by board, capped and squared — posts set to last, and the old fencing hauled away.
We walk the finished line with you, and installed work carries a written workmanship warranty. We stay reachable after the job is done.
One recent build, the way every Ironwood job runs — the old fence out, full-length western red cedar in, board by board, and the old materials hauled away.

Staying local is how we keep quality high and scheduling tight. Ironwood Grounds works the Peninsula — South Surrey, White Rock, Ocean Park, Morgan Creek, Tsawwassen, Ladner and the wider Delta area.
Every property is different — length, height, grade, gates and old-fence removal all move the number — so rather than quote a rate we do an on-site visit and hand you a fixed written quote. That quote is the exact number you pay, with gates, grade and old-fence removal included, and never an hourly rate. What drives cedar fence cost →
We build with western red cedar, suited to the coastal Metro Vancouver climate. It resists rot and insects naturally and weathers to a soft silver-grey, or holds a stain if you prefer to keep the warmth.
Board-on-board means the boards overlap on alternating sides of the rail, leaving no gaps as the cedar dries and moves. It gives full privacy, looks finished from both sides, and stays solid where a single-layer fence would open up over time.
A well-built western red cedar fence in this climate commonly lasts 15 to 25 years, depending on exposure and upkeep. Concrete-set posts, board-on-board construction, and corrosion-resistant hardware are what carry it to the long end of that range. What decides the range →
We do both. Alongside new design-build fences we repair and restore existing cedar — replacing posts, resetting leaning sections and rebuilding gates — and we will tell you honestly when a repair is better value than a rebuild. How to decide →
We work across the Peninsula communities of Metro Vancouver: South Surrey, White Rock, Ocean Park, Morgan Creek, Tsawwassen, Ladner and the wider Delta area. We keep the work local so we can measure, build and stand behind it without traveling far.
Yes. Ironwood Grounds is WorkSafeBC insured, which covers our crew while they work on your property — worth confirming with any contractor before work begins.
Every build comes with a written workmanship warranty, handed to you in writing rather than promised verbally. It covers the quality of our construction, separate from the natural weathering of the cedar itself.
We usually book two to three weeks out. It begins with an on-site visit to measure and discuss the design, followed by a fixed written quote — once you approve it, that price is locked and we schedule the build.
Most residential fences within standard height limits do not require a permit, but rules on height and corner-lot sightlines vary by municipality. We flag anything on your property that should be confirmed with your city before we build.
Tell us a little about the property and we will set a site visit — usually within one business day — then put one clear written price in your hands.
