The Peninsula looks like one place, but a fence in hillside White Rock is a different build from one on the Ladner flats. We keep the work inside this area on purpose — so we know the soil, the coastal exposure and which city sets your fence rules before we quote.

South Surrey runs from the newer subdivisions around Grandview Heights to older acreage closer to the water, and the lots here are generally larger than most of Metro Vancouver. That means longer property lines and longer fence runs — where post spacing, grade changes and gate placement across the whole run start to matter. We build board-on-board western red cedar the length of the line so it reads straight and consistent from end to end.

Fence height and corner-lot sightline limits are set by the City of Surrey — we flag anything close before we build.
White Rock is its own city, not part of Surrey, and it sits on a hillside sloping down toward Semiahmoo Bay. Lots are typically smaller and tighter than South Surrey, the grade is rarely flat, and the ocean is close enough that salt air is a real factor. Fences here usually step down the slope in even runs, and hardware needs to be genuinely corrosion-resistant so it does not stain or seize this near the water.

White Rock sets its own fence and property bylaws, separate from Surrey — worth confirming before a taller privacy run.
Tsawwassen is flat, open and exposed — it sits out toward the Strait of Georgia and catches the southwest wind with little to break it. A solid board-on-board privacy fence is essentially a sail in that wind, so posts and footings here are sized for the load rather than built to a minimum. As on the rest of the coast, salt in the air favours corrosion-resistant hardware. Tsawwassen falls under the City of Delta for fence height and permits.

Ladner sits on the Fraser River delta — low-lying ground with a high water table and the soft, silty soils that come with river-delta land. That is the one condition that changes fence-building most: post depth, footings and drainage all get extra attention here so posts stay plumb through a wet Delta winter instead of shifting. Around Ladner Village the lots are older and can have heritage character, tighter access and existing fence lines to work with.

Morgan Creek is an established golf-course community in South Surrey, with larger executive frontages, gated entries and a consistent, considered look along the street. A fence here is as much about finish and proportion as it is about privacy — clean cedar lines, capped posts and gates that match the run and the house. Where a neighbourhood or strata has its own design guidelines, we build within them, so the fence sits right with the street.

Ocean Park is one of the older, more established neighbourhoods on the Peninsula — tree-lined, near the water, with mature gardens and a lot of cedar fencing that went in twenty or thirty years ago and is now reaching the end of its life. Two things come up here more than anywhere else: whether a tired fence is worth repairing or replacing, and digging post holes around the roots of mature trees without damaging them. Both are conversations we have often in Ocean Park.

Do I need a permit to build a fence, and who sets the rules?
Fence height and permit rules are set by your municipality, and they differ across the Peninsula — South Surrey, Morgan Creek and Ocean Park fall under the City of Surrey, White Rock is its own municipality with its own bylaws (City of White Rock), and Tsawwassen and Ladner fall under the City of Delta. Most standard-height residential fences do not need a permit, but front yards and corner lots have sightline limits. We flag anything close to a limit during the quote and point you to the current city rules to confirm.
Is White Rock different from Surrey for fences?
Yes. White Rock is its own city, separate from Surrey, and sets its own fence height and property bylaws — which matters most on the sloped, view-sensitive lots above the bay. South Surrey, Morgan Creek and Ocean Park are governed by the City of Surrey instead. We confirm the correct municipality's current rules before building a taller privacy run.
Do you charge more to travel to Delta, Ladner or Tsawwassen?
No. Every community we list is inside our local Peninsula service area, so there is no separate travel charge — the work is covered by one fixed written quote for the job itself.
Can you match a new fence to an existing one?
Often, yes. On shared lines and partial replacements we do our best to match the height, style and post spacing of the run you are keeping, and we will tell you honestly when matching an old fence is not worth it versus replacing the line for a consistent result.
