The cost of a cedar fence on the Metro Vancouver Peninsula is driven by seven things: total length, height, the grade or slope of the lot, the number and size of gates, whether an old fence has to be removed, site access and soil, and the cedar grade and finish you choose. Because those vary from yard to yard, a single price-per-foot rarely holds — which is why Ironwood Grounds quotes each property on-site and hands you one fixed written quote instead of a guess.

| 4. Gates & hardware | Every gate is extra framing plus hinges and a latch, and it is the part of a fence used most. Wide or double gates and heavier hardware add more than a single walk-through gate. |

How much does a cedar fence cost in South Surrey or White Rock?

Is board-on-board more expensive than a standard cedar fence?
Usually a little more, because board-on-board uses more cedar — the boards overlap on alternating sides of the rail instead of butting edge to edge. What you get for it is full privacy with no gaps that open up as the wood dries, and a fence that looks finished from both sides. On most Peninsula properties it is the difference people are happiest they paid for.
Does removing my old fence cost extra?
With Ironwood Grounds, tear-out, digging out old posts and concrete, and hauling the old fence away are built into the written quote rather than billed as a surprise afterward. When you compare quotes, check whether removal and disposal are included — that is a common place a low number hides real cost.
Why isn't there a price per linear foot for a new fence?
Repairs do have published starting prices (above). For a new fence, a price per foot only holds if every foot is identical — and real yards are not. A flat back run with no gates is a different build from a sloped corner lot with two gates and an old fence to remove, so a per-foot number quoted sight-unseen almost always moves once the crew arrives. A fixed written quote after a site visit is the number you can actually rely on.
